The Story (Vrat Katha) While there are many legends (like the descent of Ganga), the story of Sudama and Krishna is most cited for wealth.
Sudama, a poor Brahmin and childhood friend of Lord Krishna, visited him on this day. He was too ashamed to ask for help but offered a humble gift of beaten rice (Poha).
Krishna accepted it with great joy. He ate a handful, and Sudama’s poverty vanished instantly. When Sudama returned home, his hut had turned into a palace, and his vessels were filled with gold and grain that never ran out (Akshaya).
Another legend says that on this day, Lord Krishna gave the Akshaya Patra (inexhaustible vessel) to Draupadi during the Pandavas’ exile, ensuring they never went hungry.
Conclusion Charity and devotion on Akshaya Tritiya bring inexhaustible blessings that last forever.
