Shri Kamakhya Devi Mandir sits in the Kamachha area of Varanasi, carrying the Kamakhya naam in Kashi for devotees observing Ambubachi who cannot reach the Guwahati Shaktipeeth. Per Tantra Chudamani, Kashi itself is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths, and the Kamakhya-named shrines across India become substitute upasana seats during Devi annual ritu-kaal. The deity is the yoni-form Mahashakti — Devi who menstruates per Yogini Tantra and Kalika Purana. Devotees gather during Ashadha Krishna Saptami when Devi enters her seclusion (Pravritti) and Dashami when she emerges with Mahaprasad-snan (Nivritti) — the year's peak Shakti tithi for fertility, suhag-raksha, vansh-rekha and long-pending Devi manokamna prarthna.
The kumkum-tulsi arpan and white vastra arpan are carried at Maa Kamakhya darbar with the Devi-Sahasranam paath, and the Ambubachi Pravritti vrat-katha-paath from Kalika Purana is recited as the naam-gotra reaches Devi.
When a devotee feels they have called every other deity and now needs Maa Kamakhya Devi-kripa at the once-a-year Ambubachi Pravritti, they want the prayer carried with care and the completion shared honestly.
On 22 June 2026, Ambubachi Pravritti is observed at Shri Kamakhya Devi Mandir, Kamachha, Varanasi. Yogini Tantra records this Ashadha Krishna Saptami as the day Maa Devi withdraws into her annual ritu-kaal across every Shaktipeeth together. Per Kalika Purana, this is the once-a-year dawn for Devi-upasana, when kumkum, tulsi mala and white vastra are arpan-ed at Maa Kamakhya in the family naam-gotra.
